Welcome to Avignon, a UNESCO World Heritage treasure and the former papal city that still breathes art and history. Depending on your arrival time, stroll through the old town, visit the majestic Palais des Papes and the Pont Saint Bénézet. You can also simply wander the cobbled streets lined with cafés and artisan boutiques.
Your evening is free to relax and soak in the Provençal atmosphere. Enjoy dinner on a shaded terrace with a glass of Côtes du Rhône wine to celebrate the beginning of your cycling adventure in Provence.

After breakfast, meet our local team at 9:30 a.m. for your welcome briefing and bike fitting. Then head north across the largest island of the Rhône River, a peaceful landscape of orchards and olive groves.
Pedal along quiet backroads until you reach Châteauneuf du Pape, the birthplace of one of France’s most renowned wines. The village is a true symbol of Provençal elegance, surrounded by rolling vineyards shaped by sun and mistral winds.
Continue to Orange, a Roman town where the ancient theater and Triumphal Arch stand as reminders of a glorious past.

Today’s cycling stage leads you through vineyards and gentle hills, following the rhythm of the Provençal countryside. Pass through Sérignan du Comtat, Sainte Cécile les Vignes, and Saint Roman de Malegarde. Here the scent of thyme and lavender fills the air.
Cycling in this part of the Vaucluse is a joy for the senses: vineyards stretch to the horizon, and every turn reveals a new panorama.
Arrive in Vaison la Romaine, a living open-air museum where Roman ruins, a medieval castle and winding lanes come together. Enjoy dinner al fresco and let the evening light cast its magic over this timeless town.

This stage is a highlight of your Provence cycling trip. You’ll follow the famous Route des Vins, crossing renowned wine villages such as Rasteau, Gigondas, Vacqueyras, and Sarrians.
For experienced cyclists, an iconic option awaits: the climb up the legendary Mont Ventoux, the “Giant of Provence.” A true challenge for cycling enthusiasts, rewarded by breathtaking views and a thrilling descent into the valley. If you prefer to skip the ascent, we can transfer you and your bike to the summit. By this way, you can enjoy the descent through breathtaking scenery on the other side of the mountain.
Your destination, L’Isle sur la Sorgue, is often called the Venice of Provence thanks to its canals and waterwheels. Known for its antique shops and Sunday market, it’s the perfect place to unwind after a rewarding day on the bike.

Take time to explore the Luberon region by bike, where nature, architecture and light blend into one of Provence’s most enchanting landscapes.
Cycle toward Gordes, one of France’s most beautiful villages, its stone houses clinging to the hillside. Continue to the Abbey of Sénanque, surrounded by fields of deep purple lavender. Then you reach Roussillon, famous for its brilliant ochre cliffs and colorful streets. Return to L’Isle sur la Sorgue for a second night and enjoy a relaxing evening by the river.

Your final cycling day takes you along peaceful country roads and the banks of the Rhône River. The scenery alternates between vineyards, orchards and olive groves, the very essence of Provence.
Back in Avignon, take time to explore the city at your own pace. Visit local markets, discover hidden squares, or revisit the Palais des Papes to admire its Gothic grandeur one last time. Your Provence bike tour ends here, but you will remember the scents of lavender and the rhythm of the cicadas.

After breakfast, your cycling journey comes to an end. You may choose to extend your stay in Avignon or continue your exploration of the Luberon, discovering even more of Provence’s charm, gastronomy and gentle pace of life.

By train
Avignon is served by two train stations: Avignon TGV, located about 6 km from the city center, and Avignon Centre, right in the heart of town. From Paris, the TGV journey takes approximately 2 hours and 40 minutes. There are also direct connections from Lyon, Marseille, Lille, Nantes, Strasbourg, Brussels, and Geneva. A shuttle train or regional TER service provides quick access from the TGV station to the city center.
By air
Marseille Provence Airport (80 km away) is a convenient alternative, easily reached by train or car.
By car
Avignon is easily reached via the A7 motorway (Lyon–Marseille route) and the A9 (towards Nîmes and Spain). Park-and-ride facilities (P+R) allow you to leave your car on the outskirts and access the city center using buses or trams operated by the Orizo network.
Return travel from Avignon is not arranged by us. Each guest is therefore free to organize their departure according to their own schedule and preferences.

Before departure, you’ll receive a link to download the app and access your routes. Once on site, simply open the day’s ride and let it guide you. Your map, turn-by-turn directions, and points of interest appear in real time.
