The shores of Lake Geneva are ideal for cycling, with quiet roads, safe paths, and breathtaking viewpoints along the way. This cycling journey around Lake Geneva combines Swiss elegance with the charm of neighboring France. You will pass through Geneva’s vineyards, the villages of Haute-Savoie, and the lakeside promenades of Lausanne and Montreux, all at a relaxed and enjoyable pace.
It is a cycling experience accessible to all, perfect for discovering the diversity, gastronomy, landscapes, and art of living that make the Léman region so unique.
Your adventure begins in Lausanne, the Olympic Capital, and an ideal starting point for a cycling trip along Lake Geneva. Vibrant and elegant, Lausanne offers the perfect balance between tradition and modernity. Stroll along the Ouchy lakeside promenade, enjoy a coffee with a view of the water, or visit the Olympic Museum, a must-see for sports and history enthusiasts.

In the morning, take a boat across Lake Geneva to Évian-les-Bains. This crossing symbolizes the meeting of two cultures, Switzerland on one side and France on the other. Upon arrival, discover Évian’s Belle Époque charm before setting off on quiet roads through Haute-Savoie.
Your route follows the French shoreline, passing beaches, small harbors, and peaceful coves. The panorama extends to the rolling hills of the Jura, which rise gracefully on the horizon. The day ends in Yvoire, ranked among the most beautiful villages in France. This perfectly preserved medieval town, surrounded by ancient walls, enchants visitors with its flower-filled streets and romantic atmosphere.

Today, your cycling journey along Lake Geneva continues westward. Cycling through lakeside villages, orchards, and small ports, then crossing the border back into Switzerland. Stop in Hermance, a quiet gem on the Swiss shore, before continuing to Cologny, where you will first glimpse Geneva’s famous Jet d’Eau rising above the lake.
Arrive in Geneva, an international city known for its elegance, culture, and diplomacy. Take a stroll through the Old Town, explore the Parc des Bastions, or enjoy dinner at a lakeside restaurant.

Spend a day exploring Geneva’s peaceful countryside by bike. Follow the Rhône River through rolling vineyards and charming hamlets. The canton of Geneva, Switzerland’s third-largest wine region, offers acclaimed vintages that can be tasted directly at local wineries.
This route reveals an authentic and pastoral Switzerland, far from the bustle of the city, with scenic roads, varied landscapes, and delicious stops along the way.

Depart from Geneva and follow the northern lakeshore toward Nyon. The route alternates between quiet country roads and spectacular viewpoints overlooking Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc. The scenery is diverse, with farmlands, forests, and historic villages.
In Nyon, enjoy a peaceful evening in this welcoming lakeside town known for its castle, museums, and relaxed atmosphere. Nearby, the village of Prangins is home to a beautiful château and a museum dedicated to Swiss life in the eighteenth century.

Continue your cycling journey along the Swiss side of Lake Geneva toward Lausanne. The route passes through graceful landscapes lined with historic villas, vineyards, and elegant promenades. Stop in Morges, a charming market town with a lakeside castle, cobbled streets, and a flowered waterfront. Later, a gentle climb through the vineyards leads you back to Lausanne.
Return to the Ouchy promenade and enjoy a splendid view of the lake, the perfect reward for completing your loop.

The final stage is, without question, the most spectacular of the tour. Cycle through the Lavaux vineyards, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here terraced vines descend to the water, supported by stone walls dating from the twelfth century. Each curve reveals a new vista, from the deep blue of Lake Geneva to the Alpine peaks and the picturesque wine villages of Saint-Saphorin, Vevey, and Montreux.
Arrive on the Vaud Riviera, renowned for its mild climate and refined lifestyle. Conclude your journey in Montreux, an elegant and flower-filled city famous for its Jazz Festival and lakeside promenade. For a memorable finale, visit Chillon Castle, a medieval gem gracefully poised above the water.
