Take the day to discover Reims at your own pace. The majestic Notre-Dame Cathedral is a masterpiece of Gothic architecture. It will captivate you with its stained-glass windows and centuries of history. Wander through the elegant streets of the city center, stop for a glass of champagne in a local bar, or visit a traditional cellar. Reims embodies both the sophistication and the sparkling energy of the region.
Spend the night in a comfortable hotel in the heart of the city, an ideal beginning to your Champagne adventure.

After a delicious breakfast, hop on your bike for an unforgettable cycling stage. You will cross the Montagne de Reims, one of the most celebrated wine-growing areas in the region. The road winds between vineyards and villages with legendary names: Mailly-Champagne, Verzenay, Bouzy, Tours-sur-Marne, Aÿ. Each bend reveals a new perspective over the rolling hills and valleys.
In Verzenay, both the lighthouse and the old windmill stand proudly above the vineyards, true landmarks of Champagne’s heritage. As you pedal, you’ll cross landscapes shaped by generations of winemakers, where the passion for the vine is felt in every stone wall and every row of grapes.
By late afternoon, you’ll arrive in Épernay, the world’s capital of Champagne, where the iconic Avenue de Champagne shines with grandeur. Beneath your feet lie miles of cellars housing millions of bottles from names such as Moët & Chandon, Perrier-Jouët, and Pol Roger. As evening falls, enjoy Épernay’s peaceful atmosphere and the pleasure of a sparkling night.

Today pays tribute to Dom Pérignon, the visionary monk considered the spiritual father of Champagne. From Épernay, you’ll cycle along the winding roads of the Marne Valley, surrounded by vineyards and charming villages.
Your first stop is Hautvillers, a hilltop gem known as the birthplace of Champagne. The village enchants visitors with its timeless charm : stone façades, wrought-iron signs, and flower-lined lanes. It is here that Dom Pérignon rests, in the abbey church he once served. The serenity of the place is inspiring, and it’s easy to see why travelers fall in love with Champagne.
Continue toward Cumières and Damery, two picturesque villages along the Marne River where time seems to stand still. Between tastings at local estates and quiet moments by the water, you’ll experience the gentle rhythm of Champagne’s countryside. Return to Épernay in the late afternoon, content after cycling one of the most scenic stretches of the Champagne Tourist Route.

Your final cycling day leads you back toward Reims, but the return cycling stage holds many delights. The route passes through the Hautvillers State Forest, a lush green haven alive with birdsong, before meandering through vineyards once again.
You’ll pedal through Avenay-Val-d’Or and Germaine, two typical wine villages, before reaching Ludes, renowned for its elegant Premier Cru champagnes. This last stretch captures everything that makes Champagne so special: authenticity, beauty, and the unmistakable flavor of its terroir.
Back in Reims, relax in your hotel and enjoy one final free evening in this sparkling city.

After breakfast, it’s time to say farewell to Champagne. You’ll leave with golden memories: rolling landscapes, welcoming faces, the scent of cellars, and the quiet pride of having explored this legendary land by bike.
