Strasbourg - Obernai

25 miles

Today’s stage takes you along the Bruche Canal cycle path. It is peaceful greenway once used to transport wine barrels from the vineyards to Strasbourg. This flat and well-maintained route is ideal for easing into the rhythm of your cycling holiday. The scenery alternates between open fields, shady wooded areas and small locks decorated with flowers. It creates a quintessential Alsatian landscape.

You will reach Molsheim, a charming wine-growing town and birthplace of the legendary Bugatti automobile brand. A bit further on, Rosheim stands out for its beautifully preserved 12th-century Romanesque church. It is one of the finest in the region.
Your day ends in Obernai or Barr. They are two delightful small towns known for their traditional half-timbered houses, lively squares, wine estates and authentic local atmosphere. This stage is an excellent introduction to Alsace’s wine culture and gentle lifestyle.

Obernai - Riquewihr

31 miles

This third day plunges you deep into the heart of Alsace’s wine country. Pedaling along quiet roads lined with vineyards, you will pass through villages where every house seems adorned with overflowing flower boxes and brightly colored shutters. The day includes stops in Mittelbergheim and Dambach-la-Ville. They are two villages classified among the “Most Beautiful Villages in France.” Their preserved medieval character, narrow alleys and charming town squares are perfect for a break or a wine tasting.

Further along the route, Ribeauvillé enchants visitors with its trio of medieval castles perched on the hillsides, watching over the town like silent guardians.
Your stage concludes in Riquewihr, one of the jewels of Alsace. Surrounded entirely by vineyards, this village is a living medieval postcard with fortified walls, Renaissance houses, cobbled streets and an atmosphere that seems untouched by time. Riquewihr perfectly embodies the refinement and authenticity of Alsace’s wine country.

Riquewihr - Colmar

25 miles

Continuing south along the Wine Route, this stage takes you through a succession of iconic villages, each offering new discoveries and postcard-worthy scenery. You will pass through Turckheim, famous for its medieval walls and its traditional night watchman who still makes rounds in the evening, a unique custom that has survived through the centuries.

A little further on, Eguisheim, often named “France’s favorite village,” reveals a circular layout of narrow streets lined with brightly colored half-timbered houses. Its charm and authenticity make it one of Alsace’s must-see destinations.
Finally, you reach Colmar, the wine capital of Alsace and one of France’s most beautiful historic cities. Its exceptionally well-preserved old town showcases romantic canals, traditional architecture and numerous museums. A highlight is the Unterlinden Museum, home to the celebrated Issenheim Altarpiece, a masterpiece of European art. Colmar is also the birthplace of Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, sculptor of the Statue of Liberty, a reminder of the city’s artistic heritage.
